Mkoko is an off-grid house, powered by the sun and supported by rainwater harvesting.

The house sits at the edge of the mangrove ecosystem, one of the most remarkable coastal habitats around Manda. Beyond the walls, the garden becomes part of the experience: birdsong begins the morning, wildlife moves through the trees and, from time to time, monkeys make an appearance.

Life here follows the rhythms of the place — sunlight, shade, rain, tides, birdsong and the changing seasons.

It is a place to slow down, pay attention and remember that we are part of nature, not separate from it.
